SMT Assembly
ABI Electronics are continually investing in the latest equipment and technologies to further enhance our capabilities and capacity, whilst striving to achieve quality excellence. With a full in-line SMT assembly production line, total flexibility with quick changeovers/set-ups can be achieved. Our SMT assembly line consists of:
- Dek Horizon 03iX Screen Printer – Precise, repeatable printing with Hawkeye verification
- Component Dry Storage – Closed loop humidity controlled drying & storage cabinet

PCB Assembly
Hand & Unit Assembly
Hand soldering is available for specialized or custom-build PCB assemblies. All our operatives are trained to IPC standards to ensure that quality levels are met. We have facilities for prototyping to full batch cable assemblies. Our equipment consists of:

Hand & Wave Solder
The hand insertion and wave solder line is configured for optimum flexibility, allowing PCB assembly from 1-off quick turnaround prototype runs through low to medium volume production throughputs. Our line consists of:

- Blundell CMS400-LF Wave-Solderer
- Post Wave Inspection Line
Prototyping
Utilising high speed, state of the art pick and place machinery we are able to setup and program small volume builds quickly enough to make machine build a competitive option. Our ability to offer a rapid prototyping service which we believe is second to none. Typical examples include Gerber to complete product, including PCB and parts procurement within 5 working days, or our 24-hour express build to free issue kit.

Quality Inspection
ABI has a culture of quality supported by ongoing operator training to IPC-A-610 workmanship standards. Accredited IPC trainers are on site to ensure every operator’s levels are maintained. A full data and trend analysis system is in place to monitor production performance at all stages of assembly and every product undergoes a thorough inspection protocol.

Optical Inspection
The Mirtec MV-6 OMNI features a 15 megapixel camera, an eight-phase colour lighting system, and 10-micron resolution, to automatically detect defects with unmatched accuracy. Its 18 megapixels side-view camera and advanced 3D technology enable superior lifted lead and co-planarity inspection. The system’s high-speed performance enhances testing productivity and quality control.
Box Builds
Our extensive facilities enable us to offer a complete service meaning our PCB assembly services do not just stop at quick turnaround PCB assembly for low and medium builds. We have over 40 years experience in full box build assembly, including materials management of all components, electromechanical parts, plastics, casings and print & packaging material. We can offer the option to conformally coat any PCB assemblies, from fully hand-built prototypes and small batches, to medium volumes. Units can be tested to customer specifications using either bespoke functional test equipment or utilising ABI’s own testing facilities.
PCBA Repairs & Rework
ABI have the facilities to do all aspects of PCB track & pad repair, & component rework, replacement and repair. We have a wide range of equipment to allow us to perform a high standard of rework, including automated optical inspection, to identify faulty soldering, wrong components or wrong orientation.
Third Party Logistics
At ABI, we are passionate about adding value to your organisation at every opportunity. Our range of services, from front end design through to back-end logistics, allows you to focus on your sales. With our experience of shipping our own products worldwide for over 40 years, we offer outsourced or ”3PL” “third party logistics” services to companies for part, or sometimes all of their supply chain management function. We specialise in integrated and despatch services that can be scaled and customised to customer needs based on the demands and delivery service requirements. Our offering includes:
